"Writing is a form of madness. It must be exercised to be controlled."

About Me

Liz Peterson

My Writing:
I write Science Fiction, though more specifically what I’m working on now is an urban fantasy apocalypse. I’m rooted in this genre right now because my novel is just one of several in this world. My books are as yet unsold.

My Interests:
I’m a huge geek. I’ve loved Scifi since I was a kid growing up on “Start Trek: The Next Generation”, movies like The Matrix and Underworld. I love to read. I love to write. I love finding wild science facts on the internet and looking up weird stuff for research. I have a decent camera, and I love to photoshop photos I've taken. I like to cook, and garden, and craft. I’m addicted to twitter (@theliz13) and I have a big passion for My Little Pony. I collect them, sell them, and love the TV show (Bronies Rule!). I love Joss Whedon (Firefly, Dollhouse, Buffy, Dr.Horrible), Doctor Who, BBC Sherlock, Futurama, and Invader Zim.
My life is filled with obscure quotes and sci-fi references.

Authors I Love: (In no particular order)
Jim Butcher (The Dresden Files) He is an excellent writer and a fantastic human being.
Seanan McGuire (Toby Daye series) also writes as Mira Grant. Her books are awesome, and she has a machete collection.
Chuck Wendig (Blackbirds) Blackbirds is amazing, and his advice books are hilarious. They are all quite a bit vulgar and Blackbirds is VERY dark, but I love it. Chuck himself is awesome. check out his blog below.
Myke Cole (Shadow Ops) Military sci-fi! Guns AND Magic! His books are fantastic, and Myke is a really great guy.

Books I Love:
All the books I mentioned above. Also Harry Potter, The True Blood books (never watched the show), The Ameila Peabody series by Elizabeth Peters, and The Narnia books by CS Lewis.

My Life:
I’m happily married and the mother to a little girl. I spend my days being a Mom and running an eBay store and my nights (really, ALL of my free time) writing.

I've always felt like an odd duck, but through writing and meeting other writers I’ve been delighted to discover that I’m not the only person with my unique style of crazy. My hope is that I'm their type of crazy too.

I consider myself a little bit nuts, and occasionally suffer from Depression. The way I see it is that some people in this life are burdened with a greater depth of feeling, an intensity of emotion that must be expressed through art, or the art of storytelling. Yes, sometimes I am depressed and the world seems dark and I doubt everything I once knew, but that fades away and leaves me with a greater appreciation of all the beauty life has to offer. Without experiencing pain, I don’t know if I’d stop to take the time to appreciate joy.

Mostly, I’m an optimist. I like to have fun, be quirky, and enjoy being odd. I have a love of explosions, blades, and guns (even though I don’t own a gun). Someday I want to have my own laboratory guarded by zombie weasels.
